The Gjallarhorn is an Exotic Rocket Launcher which deals Solar damage, introduced in Destiny. Soon after the weapon was discovered, it would begin its reign of tyranny against any challenging content the game would attempt to offer. Soaring into the hall of Destiny's biggest icons, becoming what is easily the most iconic weapon in the history of the franchise.
The Gjallarhorn was reprised in Rise of Iron in 2016, after the original weapon fell out of relevancy upon changes to the Power system in the game. The weapon was a reward for a quest designed after itself, "Echoes of the Past". At the same time, an alternate version of the Gjallarhorn was introduced to the game, the Iron Gjallarhorn. This was essentially an alternate skin or Ornament to the Gjallarhorn, however it still occupied its own inventory slot. It was included as a preorder bonus for Rise of Iron, and therefore was added to qualifying players' inventories on launch, however it was not usable until completion of the aforementioned quest.

The Gjallarhorn shoulder-mounted rocket system was forged from the armor of Guardians who fell at the Twilight Gap. Gifted to the survivors of that terrible battle, the Gjallarhorn is seen as a symbol of honor and survival. |
