Destiny Series Pins is a series of pins pertaining to iconography, items, weapons, and characters found in the Destiny universe, made and sold officially by Bungie on the Bungie Store. Beginning in 2016 with a pin representing the iconic Tricorn, the series has gone on to include many single pins and pin sets. To date, five series have been released within the larger collection, with the first consisting of single pin releases, and the latter four consisting of pin sets.[1] While the later series generally consist of one-off sets, Series 1 continues to see new entries every year.

Destiny Series 1 is the first series of pins centric to the Destiny franchise, and as such, it consists broadly of pins based on Destiny iconography and in-game weapons and items. It is a common occurrence within the series to see a new rendition of the Tricorn pin every few years, with the most recent iteration releasing in 2022. There are also many pins representing Exotic weapons in the series. These pins set themselves apart from those of the Armory Series, for instance, in that they feature dimension, and usually employ a laser printing style for realistic color detailing, rather than a classic enamel fill. Some of the pins in the series, such as the Guardian Crest pin or the Traveler pin, are included in a secondary manner with other products sold on the Bungie Store.

As mentioned, subsequent series within the collection were sold as a pack of four pins. Each pack was sold for $39.99 USD, and the first three pins were guaranteed in each pack, while the fourth pin would be one of three rare pins, making for a total of six pins in each set. This release strategy was short lived, however, as new sets ceased only a year after the first entries became available in 2016. As such, a new series has not been produced for the larger collection since 2017.[1]

Series 2[]

Series 2 consists of pins designed after quest activities in Destiny. The first set includes pins representing Guardian classes, while it's one-in-three rare pins consist of the Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, and SRL pins. According to data gathered by fans, the SRL pin is the rarest of the three, with the Trials of Osiris pin and the Iron Banner pin following in that order. The pins are 1.5"–2" (3.8cm–5.1cm) in size.[3]

This series is the only one comprised of multi-pack releases to host a second set. The Faction Quest pin set released in September 2017 and features pins representing the factions New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, and Future War Cult. Its rare pins are the Seven Seraphs pin, the Jade Rabbit pin, and the Vanguard pin, which is also the order of rarity proposed by the aforementioned fan-gathered data. Each of the pins in the set are sized similarly to that of the prior Series 2 set.[4] Quest Pin Set

Series 3[]

The Weapons pin set released in October 2016, and the included pins represent Exotic weapons found in Destiny. The three guaranteed pins are the Last Word, SUROS Regime, and Gjallarhorn pins, while the three rare pins are the Sleeper Simulant, Iron Gjallarhorn, and Thorn pins. This is also the order of rarity for the latter pins, as indicated by fan-compiled data. Each pin is sized at 1.5"–2" (3.8cm–5.1cm).[5] Weapons Pin Set

Series 4[]

The Rise of Iron pin set released in October 2016, concurrently with the Weapons pin set. Each of its six pins represent iconography inspired by Rise of Iron. The one-in-three pins of the set are the Iron Wolf, Memory of Skorri, and Iron Song Shell pins. Pull rates pooled by fans posit that the Memory of Skorri pin is the rarest of the three, and the Iron Song Shell pin is the most common. Each pin is approximately 1.5"–2" (3.8cm–5.1cm) in size.[6] Rise of Iron Pin Set

Series 5[]

The Cute Destiny pin set is the latest series of the Destiny Series pins, releasing in 2017. This set includes characters from Destiny in a stylized rendition. The Petra Venj, Cayde-6, and Lord Saladin pins are guaranteed in each pack, while the Master Rahool, Xûr, and Mara Sov pins are the rare pins. The rarest of these, as informed by fan-researched pull rates, is the Mara Sov pin, whilst the most common pin is the Master Rahool pin. Each pin is approximately 1.5"–2" (3.8cm–5.1cm) in size.[7] Cute Destiny Pin Set

Release Discrepancies[]

On Bungie's offical Pin Collector's Guide, many of the listed release dates fail to align with what can be found on Bungie Store website archives. Primarily, the guide states that the initial sets of series 2–4 were released in September 2016, yet none of the sets appear on the aforementioned archives during said month or prior. The first archive any of these sets are seen is within that of October 24, 2016, wherein the Series 3 and Series 4 sets appear. Additionally, these appear alongside the Iron Lord Sigil pin, and each of these were included as part of the Festival of the Lost product collection that year, an event which started in-game the following day. This lends even more credence to the notion that these sets released in late October 2016, rather than the month prior.

However, this still does not account for the Series 2 Quest pin set, which does not appear on Bungie Store archives until June 6, 2017. While archives of the site during 2017 are scarce, the set does also appear in the site's "What's New" section in a July 2017 archive, which loosely suggets that the set may have released somewhat recently to that date.

The Cute Destiny pin set first appears in a June 2017 archive, which does not contradict the Pin Collector's Guide's suggested May 2017 release, especially given the meager archives of the site during that year as previously mentioned. The Faction Quest pin set also lines up with the September 2017 release date listed on the guide, as it first appears in archives on September 7, 2017.
