The Destiny 2 Alexa Enabled Ghost is a Ghost replica with an accompanying Alexa Skill produced by Idea Planet in collaboration with Bungie and Amazon. It released on December 19, 2017 for $89.99 USD on Amazon, and featured unique compatibility with Destiny 2 when linked to an Alexa enabled device and a Bungie account.[1] The replica could relay information using Nolan North's voice as Ghost upon asking it questions through Alexa. Updates for the Ghost ceased on July 25, 2019, and much of its functionality has become outdated due to updates to Destiny 2 over the years.[2]
The replica itself is borrowed from Idea Planet's original Ghost replica, however only the speaker, lights, and micro USB charging port are carried over. The main functionality of the Ghost comes from the complementary Alexa Skill. Alexa devices connect to the Ghost via wi-fi, and after linking one's Bungie account to one's Amazon account, Alexa can be utilized for myriad gameplay and worldbuilding purposes in Destiny 2—all spoken through the Ghost using Nolan North's voice as the character.[3]
Idea Planet boasts the use of speech concatenation technology to construct upwards of one thousand unique voice lines using the voice of Nolan North to answer questions or heed requests by users. This functionality includes the ability to save up to four custom loadouts based on currently equipped gear labelled using activity names, transferring gear from the Vault or other characters,[4] various clan interactions such as asking how many clan members are online, the status of weekly clan rewards, and inviting clan members to one's fireteam,[5] as well as simply inquiring about anything within the Destiny universe, such as characters, items, enemy factions, and more.[6]
The replica is 1:1 in scale, sharing its 4.5" (11.4cm) size with the original Ghost replica.[3] The deco has been changed to be fully black in color, not representing any particular Ghost Shell from the games. Included with the replica is a micro USB to USB charging cord and a USB wall adapter.[7] The user manual can be found in PDF form here.
